‘Health is more than simply the absence of disease; health involves optimal physical, mental, social and emotional functioning and well being.’ - World Health Organization
The Novato Unified School District recognizes the important connection between a student’s health and their ability to learn effectively and achieve high standards in school. The District aims to provide an integrated approach to student health and wellness, based on the Coordinated School Health Model developed by the Centers for Disease Control. This model brings together eight key areas intended to improve students’ health and their capacity to learn, through the support of schools, families and communities working together.
